A Hint of Spring
Spring seems to be a bit early this year. We have had quite a warm trend in the past few weeks. We can see cherry blossoms starting to bloom again.
These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago. They were just starting to come back and we were total amazed how Winter has passed already.
We are grateful that we had a mild Winter, unlike the Winter a year ago when we had weeks of snowfall around Christmas and New Years time, it took months for the snow to totally melt away.
Vancouver has a quite a bit of cherry blossom trees, but in comparison to those in Japan, ours are relatively young and much smaller in size.
It seems that it is about time to go out and hunt for cheery blossoms :)
The blossom buds are so bright in color, it is as if all the color has been concentrated there ready for the petals to be formed.
Sakura reminds me of xxxHolic and various other animes.
We went to Shinjuku Gyoen for cherry blossom viewing a few years ago when we visited Tokyo. I will have to post some of those photos up sometime.
Would love to visit Tokyo again during Spring time in the future. The experience and the festivity during hanami is very unique and can’t be found anywhere else.
Have you been to any hanami in Japan? Would you like to go again?
Nice macro pictures of the cherry blossoms. I’ve never used a macro lens before but I may have to soon. Great photography!
Thanks Otaku Surf, these photos were taken using a EF 70-200 zoom lens. The tree is like 2 stories tall and I point my camera skyward to take these shots.
I see! Good work nevertheless.

Thanks again, I enjoy using the EF-70-200 and EF-S 60, they are both very effective lenses to produce a nice bokeh for the background.
Hi Kam
You have lots of nice pics & i really enjoy your photo shooting!
Thank you vyvy, looking forward to seeing you soon!
Been a while since I went for any hanami sessions. I do go and look at the cherry blossoms, just no picnic. ^^.

Would like to try picnic during hanami myself, last time we went to Shinjuku Gyoen but didn’t bring any picnic gear. So we ended up having some lunch at the little cafe near the main entrance. Next time we have to try bringing a blanket and some sake ^^/
