Leaving Japan

It seems it was so long ago since our last trip to Japan. It is true that it happened in November 2011 but it was so much fun that I look forward to visiting again.  This was the last day when we were just doing some last minute shopping and then to get to Narita Airport via the Skyliner.

One of the things we did on the last day is to look for a post office to mail some of our belongings back.  We did buy a lot of “stuff” and some we had to mail as it would not fit properly into our suit case.  It was our first time sending parcels back from Japan and we didn’t know it could be so complicated. Long story short, not knowing Japanese makes it difficult….

After finishing all last minute activities, it was time to start our journey to Narita Airport.  We decided to try the Skyliner. So we took the Yamanote line to Nippori station where we switched to the Skyliner.

Getting from the Yamanote line platform to the Skyliner platform is not difficult, though we had never done it before so it took a few minutes.

One of the challenges is to use up all the credit in the Suica card. Luckily the ticket dispensing machine is really smart and helped us figure out what we owe after clearing up the Suica credit to use the Skyliner.  Off we go to the platform!

The Skyliner is not as big as the Shinkansen but it is also a very modern railway.

We have assigned seating and everyone entered very orderly, what else do you expect in the Japanese society?

The destination is clearly marked inside the train as well.  I would not expect any less though.

The seats are comfortable and very space saving.

The trip from Nippori to Narita Airport is roughly about an hour. In case you need to use power, they are available below the seat in front of you.

Just like the Shinkansen, riding the Skyliner means we don’t have to be stuck in traffic. And the big windows allow us to take photos along the way towards Narita Airport.

Arrived in Narita Airport and was kind of sad that train ride took so little time.  But our flight schedule was tight so we didn’t have much time to wander around at the airport.

It was a very nice vacation and I can’t wait to visit the land of the rising sun again :)
