It seems it was so long ago since our last trip to Japan. It is true that it happened in November 2011 but it was so much fun that I look forward to visiting again. This was the last day when we were just doing some last minute shopping and then to get to Narita Airport via the Skyliner.
We stayed in an apartment while we were in Tokyo last year. It was a new experience for us as we used to stay in hotels during our other trips in Tokyo. There are pros and cons to each choice and to some degree, if you are staying in a location for a longer period of time, an apartment sometimes works out better.
Nakano certainly has been a great place for us during our trip in Tokyo. We rented an apartment there and we had a lot of freedom to choose when we get in and out of the apartment. Also since Nakano has a lot of shops and restaurants, we didn’t have to worry about food at all. I think it is a great place to stay and between Ikebukuro and Nakano, it is difficult o pick which one to lodge the next time we go. Guess it depends on what is available and the price at the time.
After we finished enjoying our leisure walk in Inokashira Park, we decided to do some shopping in the neighbouring shopping area at Kichijoji (吉祥寺).
During the second last day of our trip in Tokyo, we went to Kichijoji and took a nice walk in Inokashira Park (井の頭公園). It is one of the oldest parks in Tokyo. There were lots of red leaves and to our surprise, during a weekday, there were also lots of locals strolling in the park. Lifestyle in Tokyo is not half bad :D
During our trip in Japan, we had the privilege to meet with Danny a couple of times and attend his Culture Japan Season 2 recording. It was awesome being able to see how Culture Japan is made at Danny’s headquarters. Also it was great to meet new friends via Danny.
We caught the last day of Tori no Ichi at Juzaisan Chokoku-ji (Temple of Tori) in Asakusa. Many people came here to pray for good health, good fortune and good business. Tori no Ichi is an annual event held in November.
One of the best meals we had while in Tokyo is Korean BBQ. We were invited to a friend’s family restaurant to enjoy authentic Korean BBQ and Korean food. The beef they served was fresh and juicy, and the Korean BBQ makes them extra tasty.
