Photo Walk 11 – Downtown and Vancouver Public Library
Fall is definitely in the air. Even though officially summer ends on September 20th this year, it felt like Autumn has been around for a couple of weeks before then.
Leaves has already been falling and this makes the otherwise monotonic concrete pavement more so colourful.
Some of the older brick housing around downtown. They are generally lower in height. I don’t think they build them anymore in downtown but it makes them more rare and interesting.
We strolled along to the Vancouver Public Library.
It definitely has one of the more interesting architecture design. It was designed by architect Moshe Safdie.
The exterior of the library building resembles a Roman Colosseum.
Usually there are a lot more people at the entrance, I guess the weather made people want to stay indoor.
Inside has a big open area separating the government offices to the left and the main library building to the right. In the summer this is a popular place for students to hang out. There are also a few language schools around here drawing a lot of international students to this area.
Looking up, you can see the glass roof of the open area. The roof of the main library building is a green roof. However the roof is not accessible to the public.
There is a little bit of art exhibition at the bottom floor. Kind of hidden but I supposed it is space well used for smaller exhibits.
Do you go to your local libraries or do you rely on the internet to find your information?

It’s nice that the exhibition’s theme is Japan related ^o^

Hmm… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve driven past this building, but never actually stopped to walk around. Are their cute girls hanging around that library to make me stop?
hummm hummm… especially in the Summer months :P
