Toast Box

Toast Box (土司工坊) is a nice cafe in Hong Kong that serves Singaporean-inspired snacks and drinks. When I was staying in Hong Kong, there is one just nearby and was great to try it out. The interior decor is nice and has a South-Eastern Asia feel to it. I had their coffee there and really […]

Kamo Iris Garden Green House

Nearly forgot to post about the Green House at Kamo Iris Garden. This is a greenhouse that has a traditional Japanese building appearance but has transparent roofs to let light through. It is quite something to see as there are so many plants inside.

City of Kakegawa

After spending a night at Kakegawa, we were heading out to out next destination – Osaka. But not before we explored a little bit more of Kakegawa and it’s castle.  Here are some photos around the city of Kakegawa.

Kakegawa Sunset

After we finished visiting the Kamo Iris Garden, we headed back to our friends’ place for a brief visit. I found the scenery of countryside Japan quite relaxing and carefree.

Kamo Iris Garden and Villa

Haranoya Station

Haranoya Station (原谷駅) is an old train station that is both an operating station as well as a tourist attraction in Kakegawa. It is fascinating to see an old train station as this is something definitely difficult to find around Tokyo area.  It is like visiting a scene in an anime!

Kakegawa

We arrived at Kakegawa (掛川), a town west of Shizuoka.  We were excited to see the countryside of Japan. This is also my first-time travel outside of Tokyo during a trip to Japan.

First time on Shinkansen

It is my first time riding on shinkansen (新幹線). It is like a jet plane on tracks! We were heading to Kakegawa (掛川) for a brief visit. Kakegawa is close to the country side and is known for their tea leaves. Before talking about Kakegawa, I am going to show you my ride on the shinkansen.
