Photo Walk 20 – Whytecliff Park, West Vancouver
I remember about the same time last year we came to Whytecliff Park for a bit of leisure walk. I always like to pick a crisp day in Autumn to come here for some reason. This year is no exception.
We came at around 5:30 PM and it was just about the right time to wait for sunset.
Whytecliff Park is located not too far off Hwy 99 in West Vancouver. The scenic drive along Marine Drive is my preferred way to get there even though it takes a bit longer. Click the map above for the interactive version of the Google Map.
There is this tuck shop just off the parking lot. We got a piece of pie and some juice and we invited ourselves to the deck behind the shop. It is a great little place to relax.
It has a nice view overlooking the ocean. With all the trees around, it is never too glaring even it is facing west.
Would love to sail out there in the Strait of Georgia one day.
There are lots of short trails around. Like this one, it leads to a very small beach.
It is very relaxing to be sitting down at the beach to look out to the narrow opening of water.
Up on the rocks, you can see very far into the ocean.
It is a bit scary to be looking down to the see the water about 40 feet below. Glad I had good shoes with me.
There are some tress up on the rocks but they are usually sparsely populated. Below are some more sunset photos.
Hope you enjoyed these photos.
Nice images. I like how the shorelines always look with the different kind of trees just hanging off the rocks. Guess I’ll have to make my way to Vancouver first before heading to Japan :p.
Thanks Ghostly Substance, Vancouver is definitely one of the best places to be during Summer and Autumn. Unless you are into skiing, the rainy weather in the Winter and Spring time might put you off. And yes, if it is on your way to Japan, Vancouver is a nice stopover. It is only 8 hours of flight from Vancouver to Tokyo. Food in Vancouver is great as well.
Whytecliff is very nice place to be. I’ve enjoyed it this may and the light you captured is just beautiful, very nice pics.
Thank you Claudia.
