Kani Douraku
Always wondered about Kani Douraku (かに道楽) as seen on a lot of travel advertisements and TV programs of Osaka. So here we are seeing one gigantic crab on the wall of the Kani Douraku restaurant!
It is so big that you can spot it from miles away!
The restaurant looks okay from the outside. I was more interested in the food display at the time and didn’t pay attention to the price.
So festive! The colour of autumn. There we have more display to look at. Starting to see the price of these displays by now.
And here is the full display. These are actually not the real sushi by the way. These are the resin displays for reference only. After considering our options, we decided to try a small box that cost less than ¥1,000 for a start.
Here it is, all nicely packaged :D We can’t wait to try it, so we decided to find a bench on the street and dig right in.
Here they are. I would have to say the resin display looks a lot nicer than what we got.
I think for ¥900 and we are getting 10% by volume crab meat, 90% rice was a bit of an anticlimax…. I would rather they give us only 2 pieces with a really good portion of crab meat each instead of 5 pieces and only with a little bit of crab meat each.
Maybe if we had gone into the restaurant and pay the right price we would have gotten more tasting of the Kani Douraku. Nonetheless, I can check it off my list and glad we had tried it.
lol I think I tasted more of the thin slice of pickle on top than crab >_<; but I guess like you said our curiosity got better of us :P
hehe, it was worth trying since we were there :)
Ha.. 10%meat 90% Rice =)
I always wanted to go try them as well due to the large exposure on TVs
I think it satisfied our curiosity more than anything. In comparison, the mochi and macha combo at Kakegawa was way more exciting.
