We eat out from time to time and we take lots of food photos.  Often times we use the Lumix LX3 because it is small and is not very noticeable.  Lately I have taken my T1i with the EF-S 60mm lens out to take photos with and the results are not half bad.  If you are hungry, don’t look….

I am surprised that I have not visited Chinatown in Vancouver more frequently.  Today I had fun.

Vancouver Chinatown by you.

Going to Chinatown is a bit like traveling back in time.  The shops, the smell, the people, etc. all remind me part of my childhood and where I used to grow up.  Of course it is not exactly the same because I didn’t grow up in Chinatown here in Vancouver, but nonetheless, it is a bit nostalgic.

Went out to have lunch with the team at work today at the Coast Seafood Restaurant at Alberni Street in Vancouver.  It was a surprisingly nice day with mild weather and lots of sun.  What is even better was the food served at lunch.

Coast Seafood Restaurant by you.

I had this burger that does not look like much on the outside.  However, the carb portion is minimal and the beef plater is topped with crab meat and some very yummy sauce that had me enjoying it from the beginning to the end.

Our friends took us to their family restaurant here in Nippori.  It is a Korean BBQ restaurant.  We are so excited to finally having to taste authentic Korean food.   I really like the BBQ grill they use.  It is not seen in Vancouver.

This time, we are going to show you Nabe we had in Tokyo. Friends of ours took us to ChankoDining. It is a restaurant owned by a former sumo wrestler champion.

Before talking about the food, I think it is important to highlight the excellent service we received. We didn’t have to make the nabe ourselves. There was a very friendly waitress helping us with our cooking. Imagine having to cook nabe 10 times a day!? Also the waitress is totally wired. She has a microphone on the front of her shirt, and she also has an earpiece. Guess that is to enhance communication with the kitchen/co-worker to provide better service for their customers in the restaurant.

Lets continue with more food related pictures, shall we?  This time, I am going to show you some other food we had in other restaurants.

One problem with going to a restaurant is that the menus are usually in Japanese only.  Luckily, we were tagging along with our Japanese friends so we didn’t have to do any ordering ourselves.

Continuing the topic of food we had in our Tokyo trip, we are going to explore something better than fastfood ^^

Bento is a very good way to get tasty food without going to a restaurant.

Personally, I find food in Tokyo delicious.  I didn’t spend a lot of time in expensive restaurants.  Our trip is on a budget and therefore the food choices reflect our budget.  However, we did enjoy a lot of the meals we ate.

First off, food from this restaurant is definitely fast food quality.  It was the first night of arrival and we were too tired and hungry to keep looking for nicer place.  As you can see from the signs at the front of the restaurant, the price is pretty cheap.
