Sensouji at Asakusa

After walking through Nakamise, we arrived at Sensouji (浅草寺). It is light up at night and is better suited for photo taking at this time of the day.  Compared to the last time I was here, I think the photos this time turn out a lot more interesting.

Nakamise at Asakusa

Asakusa is one of those places that I love to visit every time I come to Tokyo. Not a whole lot has changed since the first time I visited in 2003. And compared to the time we visited there in 2009, this time the weather cooperated a lot nicer. Apart from Sensouji, Nakamise (仲見世) is a […]

Ameyayokocho at Ueno

After visiting Ueno Park, we went to Ameyayokocho which is right next to the train station.  There are shops selling all sorts of things and the shops are on both sides of the train tracks. It is quite a nice experience walking down the streets and trying out some of the street foods there.

Ueno Park

Went to Ueno Gyoen for a bit. It didn’t change much since the last time we were there.  But none the less we never went there in Autumn and was good to see what it looks like at this time of the year.

Nakano Neighbourhood 3

More photos of the restaurants in Nakano. There are so many that I think I might have captured less than 30% of what is around. If you love Japanese food, if you love izakaya, you will find Nakano offers you a lot of choices.

Yokohama and Ramen

Been longing to visit a friend in Yokohama and finally it is time. Taking the trains from Nakano to Yokohama was easier and much faster than I thought. Basically we took the Yamanote Chou Line from Nakano station to Shinjuku station, then switch to the Shounan-Shinjuku Line Special Rapid Service which is an express rapid line […]

Trains in Tokyo

I always wonder how it would be like being an operator of these advanced trains in Japan. It does not feel too difficult looking at how the operator does it.  But there are lots of knowledge going into operating one of these trains. Especially when you want to stop the extra long train at exactly […]

Nakano Neighbourhood

The neighbourhood where we are staying is pretty quiet and convenient. We are only 5 minutes from the shops and 6 minutes from the trains. I took some photos of the neighbourhood at night using the Sony NEX-5N without a tripod and these photos turn out pretty nicely.
