This is my second AirPort Extreme Base Station. The first one I owned, I bought through the Apple Online Refurbished store 3 years ago.  At the time, the unit was a Draft N unit and didn’t have simultaneous dual band.  (For the geekiest of you, it was model A1143, the first AirPort Extreme that came with Gigabit network ports.)  Today, I upgraded to the latest from Apple, released on June 21, 2011 to replace the old router I have been using.

Despite how some people dislike Apple and their business practices, you have to give some credit to the Apple Store genius who decided to respond to a customer. She came to the store to ask for help 30 minutes after closing time.

As promised by Apple, customers who got their iPhone 4′s before the end of September would be eligible for a case to help alleviate the reception problems from the poor antenna design of the iPhone 4.  Personally I have not had a lot particular reception issues where I need to use the iPhone 4. I can see the signal strength drops if I grip the iPhone the way we are “not supposed to” but I can easily change how I hold it as well.  It hasn’t deter me from enjoy using the iPhone 4. Well, now with the bumper case, I should enjoy the iPhone 4 even more.

I didn’t line up for the iPhone 4 when it was first released in Canada at the end of July, so I had to wait. It took about 6 weeks but it is definitely worth waiting. Before I say goodbye to my original iPhone, here are some photos of the iPhones for comparison.

I am consolidating my anime storage and anime download into this energy efficient aluminum enclosure of goodness.

Apple today revealed the latest Mac mini with HDMI output. I have been waiting for this for a while and now the wait is over! It is sort of a quiet announcement. There is a small mentioning here. Maybe because it is the same day that you can start ordering the iPhone 4, this new product is a bit overshadowed by all other iPhone 4 pre-order craze news.

I am sure by now the iPhone 4 news is all over the net and you can read about it just about anywhere including here and here and here.  But what is amazing of the news isn’t just about another marketing hype that Apple managed to build up like it does over and over.  Personally, what I find amazing is Apple keeps finding ways to impress its audiences, be it a tech geek, a gadget lover, an industry analyst, or a share holder. I really like Apple products because I think they put a lot of thought into their products, and I think as a company, they execute their business really well.

Have to agree with a lot of iPad owners, reading on the iPad is a great experience. Been using it to read some of my favorite magazines (Dengki Hobby). The screen is very easy to read. I thought it would be a lot harder to read than the Kindle which has the e-ink technology, but it is not as bad as I thought. The reflection sometimes bugs me especially reading with a light behind me. But I was able to adjust and get the best contrast from the screen.
