Gastown at Night

If you are like me who likes night photography, you would find Gastown a wonderful place for taking shots. It is quite an attractive part of Vancouver with lots of unique buildings and it is often lit up very well. There are also lots of restaurants and places for drinks. It is also where Revolver Coffee is. Again, these photos are taken using the Sony Alpha NEX-5N without a tripod.

I am also amazed how well the kit lens (E18-55mm OSS) performs. It has a little bit of flare when pointing it directly at a light source. It has some colour aberration but quite acceptable. It has a bit of barrel distortion in its wide range (18mm) but that sometimes can create some nice effect. The overall picture quality is great for such a small little lens.  I can’t wait to see what the 30mm f/3.5 macro and the 50mm f/1.8 can do.

If you feel like taking a photo walk at Gastown, let me know and I will gladly come out to shoot with you.
