While we were in Tokyo, we spent some time with Mr. Danny Choo. It was nice to see him and his wife again. Both me and my wife have been following Danny’s blog for a number of years. I started reading Danny’s blog when he still had time to make Gunplas. I remember at that time I was looking for PG Strike photos online and was totally impressed by the quality of content Danny posted on his blog. It was great to have met him for the second time in the past few years and hope many more to come. Here are a selected few photos to share with you.
Always wondered about Kani Douraku (かに道楽) as seen on a lot of travel advertisements and TV programs of Osaka. So here we are seeing one gigantic crab on the wall of the Kani Douraku restaurant!
This is our first time to Osaka and Dōtonbori (道頓堀) in Osaka is a must-visit attraction. We were leisurely walking through the shopping streets in the area and took loads of pictures. Here are some to share with you.
After spending some time at local supermarkets like LIFE, I realized that the groceries expenses in Tokyo and Osaka is pretty similar to those in Vancouver. For example, imported alcohol like Yellow Tail from Australia costs ¥858 (roughly about C$11). The same bottle of Yellow Tail retails here at C$13. Let’s take a look at other items….
After settling into our hotel, it’s time to find some dinner. The weather was crisp and chilling and we opt to walk underground at Namba Walk.
A friend recommended this hotel in Osaka and we were lucky to be able to book it in a very short amount of lead time. We happened to find it in HotelClub.com and it was at pretty decent price. With this booking confirmed, we are spending a few days in the Osaka neighbourhood.
Sadly we had to leave Kakegawa. We had so much fun in such a short period of time (2 days 1 night) but we were scheduled to be in Osaka next. So here we go on the Shinkansen and this time, my wife was prepared; she brought us bentos to have on the train!
In between the Kakegawa Castle and the Palace (二の丸御殿) is the Tea Room (二の丸茶室), it was a nice surprise to have a chance to try the green tea produced right at Kakegawa prepared by the tea master!
